Abstract English

A comparison of the birth weights of 100 infants born to primigravidae under the age of 16 years was made with the birth weights of 100 infants born to a group of primigravidae of 20 to 27 years of age. Infants of adolescent mothers were born shorter gestations than infants of adult women, and their birth weights were significantly lower too. The latter might be attributed to the poor socio-economic status, immaturity and ignorance
