Five main locations were selected in the Holy Valley as well as a group of tunnels to represent different microclimate conditions prevailing in the Valley. Counts of fungi in the atmospheres of different locations of Holy Muna Valley were high during Tashareek days than those recorded during periods before and after these days. Fungal contamination counts were higher in atmosphere of indoors [zinc shelters, tents, conditioned and unconditioned rooms] than the open air areas, outdoors [streets] during Hajj season. The genera Aspergillus, Fusarium and Penicillium are dominant in various indoors and outdoors housing accommodations, followed by phycomycetes group of fungi. With respect to the tunnels, the lowest fungal counts were detected in the tunnel assigned to traffic movement, higher contaminations were detected in the tunnels of pedestrians. The highest fungal counts were recorded between the period of the beginning of Tashareek days to one week after this period
