Type Of Publication : Regional Committee resolutions RC Resolution Fulltext The Sub-Committee, Having studied the document submitted by the Regional Director on the Promotion and Implementation of Environmental Sanitation Programmes;
Noting the ways in which the World Health Organization can assist Member States to develop successful sanitation programmes; Endorsing the four principal steps set forth which are essential to the success of sanitation programmes, i. e. organization of sanitation services supported by an educational effort, establishment of a national sanitation plan, improving the teaching and training of sanitation personnel and the development of pilot sanitation projects; 1. RECOMMENDS to the Governments of Member States to give due prominence to projects in environmental sanitation when formulating requests for assistance to the World Health Organization, to UNICEF or to other international agencies; 2. INVITES the Regional Director to continue to encourage the establishment of and to strengthen existing environmental sanitation programmes of the Member States.
