Countries, and after careful analysis of the procedures T adopted with regard to such a programme, 1. NOTES the action taken by the Third World Health Assembly and the decisions of the Executive Board with regard to the policy of decentralization for the activities of the Technical Assistance Programme; 2. RECOMMENDS to the regional countries to set up national interdepartmental committees or similar local bodies for technical assistance, to co-ordinate plans under the Technical Assistance Programme and to ensure that health problems have an adequate share in the national programme for technical assistance, and urges also that the representatives of the national health departments sit as members of the inter-departmental committees; 3. ENTRUSTS the Regional Director to act on behalf of the Regional Committee in any matter pertaining to the Technical Assistance Programme and to take such steps for its implementation as may be possible with the available resources allocated to the Eastern Mediterranean Region; and 4. URGES the regional countries to co-operate closely with the regional office concerning requests and projects relating to the health aspects of the Technical Assistance Programme for Economic Development.
