for Economic Development, 1. RECOMMENDS to all health administrations in the Region that they make the greatest possible efforts to influence their treasuries and economic ministries in accordance with the importance of health as a major factor in economic development; 2. EMPHASIZES the importance of ministries of health being fully informed on the activities of other ministries, in particular those which are concerned with economic, educational and agricultural, development; 3. EMPHASIZES the importance of the health component in all these developments; 4. CALLS UPON the Regional Director to assist the ministries on request to carry out these objectives; 5. CONSIDERS that the ministry of health should always be a member of any economic development or technical assistance committee which may be established in any country; and 6. REQUESTS the Director-General of the World Health Organization to approach the appropriate body or bodies with a view to having them reconsider the new policy on the financing of Technical Assistance projects in order to assure the provision of a fixed percentage of Technical Assistance funds to be allocated to health projects for each country.
