proposed for countries in the Region under that programme for 1956 and 1957; Noting resolutions WHA8.33; Considering the role of the programme in improving the health of the people in the Region as an integral part of economic and social development, 1. EXPRESSES the hope that in future years the problems encountered in the first experience of country programming will be avoided; 2. REQUESTS Governments in the Region to assure that their health officials participate fully in the work of the co-ordinating body responsible for the development of their total country programmes, so that the health aspects of economic and social development may be adequately considered; 3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to provide such advice and assistance as health ministries may require in developing their project proposals for inclusion in the country's total programme and in their discussions with Resident Representatives, who perform a coordinating function in the development of Technical Assistance programmes; 4. REQUESTS that the proposals for the Regional Nursing College and for the World Health Organization's participation in the Arab States Fundamental Education Centre be approved by the Technical Assistance Board; 5. EXPRESSES the hope that provision will be made in establishing the 1957 country target figures, including the WHO target sub-totals, for the activities which appear in the proposals for the programme and cost estimates for Technical Assistance in 1957.
