reported by countries of the Region has shown a steady increase during the past ten years; Noting also recent developments in the field of poliomyelitis research, 1. RECOMMENDS that Member States initiate periodic studies on immunity level among infants and children of pre-school age; 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to assist with these studies when requested, with a view to assessing the need and advisability of introducing vaccination against poliomyelitis into countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
