for all forms of disasters and their impact; Recognizing the importance of disaster preparedness and management within the context of sustainable development; 1. CALLS UPON Member States to: 1.1 Reaffirm their political commitment to reducing national vulnerability to disaster and raise awareness among policy-makers and decision-makers; 1.2 Establish functioning systems for the collection and dissemination of information relevant to preparedness and response and develop, if they have not yet done so, comprehensive national disaster management plans; 1.3 Implement programmes aiming at raising the awareness of the public; 2. REQUESTS the Regional Director to follow up on the mplementation of the recommendations and report to the Regional Committee on the progress.
