A study of about 1200 local strains of P. aeruginosa was performed. It included the strains production of various pigments, method of extraction and purification, the pigments activity and characteristics.
We have reported a comprehensive study about three purified pigments; the pyocyanine, the pyoverdin and the pyorubrin. This paper displays, a parallel study of the purified pyomelanin pigment that is produced by our collection of P. aeruginosa strains. This pigment is studied for the first time in details; the study included stability tests, minimum inhibitory concentration [MIC] measurements also the antibiotic activity against other bacteria. Spectroscopic methods were adopted to provide more accurate information. Optical, electric, physical and chemical behaviours are also included in the present work
