The effect of beta-adrenergic drugs on serum Ig G levels in asthmatic patients was studied. Asthmatic subjects not recieving beta-adrenergic drugs showed no significant changes in serum IgG levels.
Asthmatics using oral-adrenergic drugs had a significant lower mean serum Ig G levels. Combined usage of beta-adrenergic drugs and corticosteroids produced more depression of Ig G levels. There were no apparent effect on serum levels of IgM and Ig A. The changes in Ig G levels appears to be related to an effect of beta-adrenergic drugs on the immune system
