In a 3 year period, 354 patients underwent appendicectomy by us. Amongst them 284 patients were male and 70 were female. Diagnosis was based upon the history, physical findings and investigations.
The diagnosis of acute appendicitis was made in 60% of the cases on the first visit and appendicectomy was performed, 30% were kept under observation and appendicectomy was performed later on diagnostic confirmation.10% of the patients did not require any surgical intervention. Variation in the total leucocyte count was noted and different positions of appendix were compared with the published literature
