A prospective study was undertaken to document the prevalence and severity of ABO-Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn [ABO-HDN] among babies whose ABO blood group was incompatible with their mothers.
The cord blood values for haemoglobin and bilirubin levels of the incompatible groups were the same as that of the control group and no significant difference was detected inthe 3rd day bilirubin levels of the two groups. It is suggested that ABO-HDN is neither common nor a severe condition
