In this study, 84 leprosy patients and 10 controls were subjected to hearing evaluation. Mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss was found in 28 [33.3%] patients, 8 borderline and 20 lepromatous.
Tests for middle ear affection or retrocochlear disease were found to be negative. From this work, we can conclude that loss of hearing among leprosy patients is most probadly due to a cochlear type of hearing loss
