The effect of single dialytic procedure on the level of serum zine, copper and iron was evaluated in 91 patients on chronic haemodialysis. The level was compared to the results in 27 health subjects.
Serum zine level was significantly low [P< 0.005] and was affected by dialysis. Serum copper was significantly increased after single dialysis [P<0.005] , but was not significantly different compared to the control. serum iron increased after single dialysis but the change was not significant [P< 0.005] . Aetiologies and probable mechanisms were discussed with its clinical and biochemical importance
