A major problem for detecting giardia cysts in drinking water is its isolation and identification from water. Regarding this matter, a polite scale included a new designed yarn wound filter.
controlled procedure, a known number of giardia cysts were added into the tank containing 400 litres of water. All the water passed through the filter, then the fibers of filter were separated from the support core, washed unwind filter, and counted the cysts were counted with heamocytometer lamella. The reslts of this study revealed that the efficiency of the isolation and identification of giardia cysts were 80.4% which showed more than 30% increase as compared with the precious studies. In this investigation optimum concentration of sucrose, duration time and speed of centrifugation for isolation of the cysts from the sediments which washed out from the filters were determined
